Goodbye Perfect Book Review | sprinkledpages

Hello everyone! Today I'm going to be sharing with you a no spoiler book review of Goodbye Perfect by Sara Barnard as well as a Q and A with the author! You can read my review of her previous book A Quiet Kind Of Thunder here!

Goodbye Perfect is the third book by UK writer Sara Barnard. The story follows Eden and her best friend Bonnie. Eden and Bonnie have been best friends for a very long time and despite being polar opposites, they are super tight, the types of besties that tell each other everything. Until one day when Bonnie decides to run away with her boyfriend without telling Eden. Things get worse when the police show up at Eden’s doorstep and she finds out her best friend’s boyfriend is also their school teacher. Sworn to secrecy and bound by loyalty, only Eden knows Bonnie’s location and that’s the way it has to stay. There is no way she can betray her best friend, not even when the police are questioning her, not even when Bonnie’s disappearance ends up on the front pages of every newspaper and not even when she has her own suspicious growing doubts.

The Love Interest Book Review | sprinkledpages

Hey friends!

Welcome back to my blog and today I’m going to be sharing with you a review of a #loveozya book – The Love Interest by Cale Dietrich.

I had heard a bit about this book on Twitter and most of it was positive and the synopsis was interesting enough BUT as you can tell from the title, this one was a ‘meh’ for me. I did enjoy the first half and it was on the way to being a four star read but then the ending let me down.

Song Of The Current Book Review | sprinkledpages

You know that feeling when you’re reading a book, you’re enjoying it, but then you get to the end and you found it’s been good but just don’t have that something extra that makes a book from good to great?

I feel like I’ve read quite a few of those this year, and sadly, The Song Of The Current by Sarah Tolscer was that for me! I buddy read this book with Aditi @ A Thousand Words A Million Books who is such a great buddy reader! Also, instead of my usual structured review today, I’m going to be doing a more chatty style post which is SPOILER FREE, don’t you worry, to discuss this book!

Letters To The Lost Book Review | sprinkledpages

Hi my bookish friends!

Don’t you just hate feeling let down by books? Whenever I am told I’m going to love a book, while I may still like it but I won’t love it. This is because I start building a ‘shrine’ for the book in my mind, especially when my favourite bloggers rave on and on about it! I hate when it happens and even when I try to consciously not hype myself up for books IT STILL HAPPENS! And it’s even worse when instead of being horrible, the book is just ‘meh’ and a sad average three stars because then you can’t even rant about why you hated it extensively! *insert sad face emoji here*

Daughter Of The Pirate King Book Review | sprinkledpages

I have never been a huge fan of pirates, if I’m being really honest. I didn’t see what was so appealing about them, especially since they are well known thieves and in some cases murders. I have seen the first Pirates Of The Caribbean but haven’t seen the others, and as a child, Peter Pan was a story I avoided because there was nothing appealing about a guy with a hook for an arm.

Going into Daughter Of The Pirate King, I didn’t really have high expectations – not because it didn’t sound interesting – but because pirates were a ‘meh’ for me. And this book totally changed my mind!

Windfall No Spoiler Book Review | sprinkledpages

The sad truth about average books is they hurt more to read than absolutely terrible books and then on top of that, it hurts even more to write a review on it because there is practically nothing to write about it – you can’t write how terrible it was and proceed to share quotes and excerpts cringing at it and you can’t gush about how everyone HAS to read it.

But alas, that’s what I’m here doing. So just keep reading if you want to hear my thoughts on why this book was extremely average for me.

Defy The Stars Book Review | sprinkledpages

Hi friends!

Welcome back to my blog! Today I am going to be sharing with you all a book review for Defy The Stars by Claudia Gray! This is the first one of her books I have read but I know her Firebird trilogy was quite popular in the book community too!

Originally, I wasn’t going to give this a try because I had written it off as another classic sci-fi novel with the whole dying world and this one special snowflake who could save it trope but then I gave in after hearing positive reviews from other bloggers (and also because of that gorgeous cover – I mean the UK/AUS one GLITTERS!!)

And sorry to say, but it was exactly as I imagined it to be.

The Secret Science Of Magic Book Review | sprinkledpages

When Hardie Grant sent me this book, I was SO SO SO excited, to say the least. Not only was it so beautifully and lovingly packaged, it was by an author whose work I had previously read and loved (Life In Outer Space AKA the cutest book ever – read it if you haven’t already friends!) and it was an #ozya I was very excited for!

For more thoughts, just keep reading!

Ida No Spoiler Book Review | sprinkledpages

So last time I posted I was determined I wouldn’t let there be a bigger than 3-4 day gap in between but because I got completely bogged down with school work, I have had basically no time to do anything other than that and my blogging has just flown out the window!

But I’m trying to get back into the groove and I have the upcoming long weekend to do that too so hopefully the next few weeks are going to be better in terms of blog posts (ha! A girl can dream right?).

Today I am reviewing Ida by Alison Evans! So I was mostly drawn to this book because it is written by an Australian author – and more specifically a Melbournian author (whoop whoop!!) and I had heard some fantastic things about the diversity!

The cover of this was also really cool and I try not to talk about covers too much in my review because I feel I don’t have very intelligent things to say about them (other than they’re pretty and I love them so much and I’m drooling – basically it’s 100% me fangirling) but I really wanted to chat about the cover of this because not only is it gorgeous, it was another major aspect of what drew me into the book! I loved the eeriness of it + the same figures on the book had me super hyped for what it was going to be about.

I’ve decided to do a different style of book review today where I’m doing a book chat instead! So the structure I usually stick to is completely thrown out the window – enjoy ;)

A Tragic Kind Of Wonderful Book Review | sprinkledpages

Book review time!

Today I am going to be sharing with you guys my thoughts on A Tragic Kind Of Wonderful by Eric Lindstrom, who is also the author of Not If I See You First!

I was really drawn to this book after reading his debut late last year which I really enjoyed and I had heard fairly positive things about ATKOW from those who had received early ARCs.

Hey lovelies!

I am back again with another review but this time instead of a book review, it’s going to be a series review of the Spark trilogy by Rachael Craw. This consists of Spark, Stray and Shield.

I was really intrigued by this series because it was #ozya and I’ve been wanting to pick up more books by local authors (even though Rachael is technically from New Zealand!). I had also heard some absolutely amazing things about this series and it sounded absolutely amazing! (Crazy science experiment gone wrong and now these people have superhuman DNA? Sign me up!)

Also, can I mention the covers and the spines? I think this is one of the most beautiful series ever because the covers match so well together and THE SPINES OH HOLY GODS THE SPINES CREATE A TREE! (Well at least it looks like a tree to me – more realistically though it’s probably something to do with DNA!)

ALSO with this review I am going to have a spoiler – free and spoiler section so if you haven’t read the books don’t worry, I’ll have a warning for you!

My Lady Jane No Spoiler Book Review | sprinkledpages

Today I am going to be reviewing the extremely popular and highly acclaimed My Lady Jane!

Just a little context on this book. It is a historical fiction book that is more fiction than historical. It is based on Lady Jane Grey who was the Queen of England for 9 days before it was 'off with her head'. Except the authors decided to change up history a little and give her a happy ending!

Also, can we talk about how beautiful the covers of the hardback and paperback are? Pictured above is the hardback which I borrowed off a friend for a quick photo and the paperback is the one I actually own! They are both super pretty and the designers deserve a real pat on the back.

The Crown's Game No Spoiler Book Review | sprinkledpages

Hey lovelies!

Today I am writing my review for The Crown’s Game by Evelyn Skye!

This was such a popular book when it came out and I’ve heard so many things from some of my blogger/bookstagrammer friends about this so I wanted to give it a shot!

But firstly, THE COVER! And the spine! I actually included it in one of my previous posts about beautiful bookish spines, if you want to check it out! But the cover itself is so beautiful and I am totally and completely in love with it! I love the creative imagery and the use of colour! It also stands out on my bookshelf with the simple but beautiful spine.

Enough of my rambling! Let’s begin!
