Bone Gap No Spoiler Book Review | sprinkledpages

This is a question I ask myself every time I read a magic realism! Do I enjoy it? Is this a genre I enjoy?

When I look at other members of the book community there are two clear sides: those who absolutely love magical realism and would fight to death over it and those who don’t! I know there are a few people in the middle like me but most people tend to be one side or the other, which is what I want to figure out – which side am I?

I enjoy magical realism for the – well – magical parts of it and how the author manages to weave magic into our mundane world. I love seeing what authors come up with and whether they go for a subtle approach or a full-on, in your face approach.

But the flip side of my relationship with magical realism is often it’s very confusing and I don’t actually see how the ‘magical’ parts relate. Because the magical realism world is often built quite ‘trickly’, I find it difficult to understand what’s real and what’s not – especially when the author writes it in a way to intend that!

And that’s pretty much how I felt about Bone Gap by Laura Ruby!

Windfall No Spoiler Book Review | sprinkledpages

The sad truth about average books is they hurt more to read than absolutely terrible books and then on top of that, it hurts even more to write a review on it because there is practically nothing to write about it – you can’t write how terrible it was and proceed to share quotes and excerpts cringing at it and you can’t gush about how everyone HAS to read it.

But alas, that’s what I’m here doing. So just keep reading if you want to hear my thoughts on why this book was extremely average for me.

Flame In The Mist Book Review | sprinkledpages

Hi friends!

Today I am here to bring you one of my top books of 2017 (even though I finished it just two days ago, it’s already made it onto the list of my favourites!) which is, as you guessed from the title, Flame In The Mist by Renee Ahdieh. THIS WILL BE SPOILER FREE!

So a bit of background on me with Ahideh’s work! I read the Wrath And The Dawn series last year and absolutely L O V E D it! I recommended it to lots and lots of friends, some of whom did read it (*coughs pointedly at those who didn’t read it*) and they all loved it too! Basically I just love her work, from the few interviews I’ve seen of her, I love her personality and she seems like such a fab and all round lovely person!

And of course when I heard Flame In The Mist was due to be released, I was HYPED because how could I not be? One of my favourite authors was releasing a new book and it sounded so interesting and the people that had ARCs were constantly fangirling so I gave it a shot even though I was a smidge apprehensive as to whether it would live up to TWATD!

Boy, am I glad I gave it a chance!

A Court Of Wings And Ruin No Spoiler Book Review | sprinkledpages

Hi friends! I am back with another book review today (it seems all I do these days are book reviews and I’m sorry if you don’t like them as much – I shall try and bring more variety onto the blog!) of most people’s top anticipated release (and mine!) A Court Of Wings And Ruin by Sarah J Maas!

I read A Court Of Thorns And Roses and A Court Of Mist And Fury early last year and absolutely fell in love! Maas had created such a splendid world with such loveable characters and all I wanted to do was to be part of that!

And so naturally, I was very excited at the release of A Court Of Wings And Ruin!

THIS WILL BE SPOILER FREE! However, it can mildly spoil you in terms of feelings I’ve had on particular parts! And if you haven’t read the other books in the trilogy, then this will definitely have spoilers for that!

The Upside Of Unrequited Book Review | sprinkledpages

Aha I’m so excited to be sharing my review for this today! This was one of my most anticipated releases of 2017 and I am happy to say it did not disappoint!

If you didn’t know, Becky Albertalli is the writer of Simon VS The Homo Sapiens Agenda, which was also such a cute and funny book and one that is a favourite of many! After having read that last year, I was quite excited when I heard she was releasing a new book, especially since there was so much hype surrounding it!

Plus I'm going to be showing you how to make these delicious Cadbury Mini Egg inspired book cookies!

Hi all!

Some fellow book bloggers and I recently decided to start a reading challenge called the #AsianLitBingo which is a bingo game board of prompts encouraging you to read books with Asian main characters by Asian authors! (Hence, the ASIAN lit bingo!)

It’s easy! You pick a line (whether it be horizontal, vertical or diagonal) and find books to for each prompt! It’s happening in the month of May and all you have to do to finish is to read all five books and you’ll be entered into the running for some very cool prizes! For more information, you can check out Shenwei’s post!

This is my TBR for the reading challenge. Knowing me, it’s due to change as I read but this is what I’ve planned so far for myself!

Queens Of Geek Book Review | sprinkledpages

Aha, I’m ready, I’m here, all set to talk about one of the cutest book EVER which also happens to be one of my top reads of this year!

I was really drawn into Queens Of Geek from the bright and fun cover and the adorable premise PLUS the rave reviews online where people were full on gushing about it! I read it as an ARC and then HAD to get the finished copy because it was just too pretty to resist!
