Hey friends! Anisha here. I’m going to be sharing with you a spoiler free review of A Thousand Perfect Notes by fellow blogger and friend @paperfuryor Cait G. Drews. I absolutely adore Cait, as a blogger and person, and after this book, as a writer.
Hi friends! I’m back to share with you a review for Lifel1k3 by Jay Kristoff. If the name sounds familiar to you, Jay has written many books including the Illuminae Files (read my review of Illuminae here) and Nevernight Chronicles.
I was very excited to receive an ARC of this book because I adore
Jay’s previous work and the book’s tag line was very intriguing to me. Keep reading
if you want to hear my thoughts on the story!
WOW it’s been a while! Sorry for my absence between posts. I have been super busy with school and the rest of the time, I have been creating content for my YouTube channel so I've been slack about blogging. Oops.
Today I’m going to be sharing with you a review for the gorgeous Circe by Madeline Miller. If the name sounds familiar, you may have read her other novel The Song Of Achilles which was a huge hit in the literary world and she recently came out with her second novel, once again Greek mythology inspired, which I’m going to be sharing a spoiler free review!

Also can I just take a moment to say a huge thank you to
Bloomsbury Australia, for not only sending me one of the prettiest books I own,
but for packaging it so well and putting effort into presentation. You all
spoil me!
Hello everyone! Today I'm going to be sharing with you a no spoiler book review of Goodbye Perfect by Sara Barnard as well as a Q and A with the author! You can read my review of her previous book A Quiet Kind Of Thunder here!
Goodbye Perfect is the third book by UK writer Sara Barnard.
The story follows Eden and her best friend Bonnie. Eden and Bonnie have been
best friends for a very long time and despite being polar opposites, they are
super tight, the types of besties that tell each other everything. Until one
day when Bonnie decides to run away with her boyfriend without telling Eden.
Things get worse when the police show up at Eden’s doorstep and she finds out
her best friend’s boyfriend is also their school teacher. Sworn to secrecy and
bound by loyalty, only Eden knows Bonnie’s location and that’s the way it has
to stay. There is no way she can betray her best friend, not even when the
police are questioning her, not even when Bonnie’s disappearance ends up on the
front pages of every newspaper and not even when she has her own suspicious
growing doubts.
Hey friends!
Today I’m going to be sharing with you my review for I Am
Thunder! I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of this amazing book and I had to
share my thoughts on it because it is so worth the read. I have been reading a
lot of South Asian #ownvoices contemporary recently and they have all been
amazing, like this one!
Hi friends!
Wow it has been SUCH a long time. Firstly, happy new year. I
hope 2018 is good for you. I know I haven’t been very active on my blog
recently, and I’m really sorry about that, but I have been quite busy on my
YouTube channel so make sure to check that out! I did recently share my bookish goals of 2018 as well as the best books of 2017 and the worst books of 2017 so
make sure to click on those words if you’d like to watch those videos!
Anyways, today I’m going to be sharing with you a spoiler
free book review for Foolish Hearts by Emma Mills. I have reviewed one of her
previous works This Adventure Ends on my blog, which you can check out if you’d
like!
Let’s just get started before I continue to ramble! (And
wow, it feels so good to be typing out a blog post after so long, I didn’t want
you to think I’d abandoned you all!)
Hi friends!
It’s been quite a while wow. If you don’t keep up with my social medias, you may not know my extended absence was due to having exams for the past month which I was SO stressed for but now they are done and I finally have some time to read and review.
Today I’m going to be sharing with you a spoiler free review for Unearthed which I was so, SO excited to receive an ARC of because it is written by Amie Kaufman and Megan Spooner, both who are super cool humans and authors of the Starbound trilogy which I really enjoyed.
This was another sci-fi but other than that, I didn’t know anything about it before I began. And safe to say, but I really enjoyed it and this comes from someone who is not a very huge sci-fi reader.
Fans of Sleeping Giants will ADORE this book!
Today I’m here to share with you my spoiler free book review
for Tower Of Dawn by Sarah J Maas. This is the sixth book in the Throne Of
Glass series and I recommend not proceeding with this review if you haven’t read
up to Empire Of Storms because spoiler alert (it’s ok if you haven’t read
Empire Of Storms though!)
While this is the sixth book in the Throne Of Glass series,
instead of being from Celaena’s perspective it follows Chaol’s story as he
journeys to the Southern Continent after the events of Queen Of Shadows. This book
occurs alongside Empire Of Storms.
This story is told in three perspectives, mainly Chaol’s
however it is also told from the perspective of Nesryn, who was a minor character
in Queen Of Shadows but plays a bigger role in this book and Yrene, who is a
new character introduced to the series however her story is part of the
Assassin’s Blade novellas.
I was super apprehensive about going into this series. If you
know me AT ALL you’ll know how much I dislike the Throne Of Glass series (although
Crown Of Midnight was ok!) and that I was very apprehensive about this story,
especially since Sarah J Maas had done Chaol QUITE dirty in the past. Chaol is
also one of my favourite characters EVER and I was so worried that she would
continue to disfigure his personality and I thought it was very unfair that
after dissing him for so long in the series, she suddenly wanted to give him
his own book.
But I was curious so I did pick it up and here are my
thoughts!
Please note, I am not
going to be talking about the disability representation in this as I won’t be
able to comment but read this review if you want an #ownvoices review for the disability
representation in this.
Hey friends!
Today I'm going to be sharing with you a no spoiler book review for Renegades by Marissa Meyer! Marissay Meyer is also the author of The Lunar Chronicles and Heartless (read more: Heartless no spoiler book review) and I've read all of her work except for the novellas and short stories.
I was quite excited to read her new book because I know she had the potential to do an amazing job and books about superheroes get me SO excited but as you can tell by the title, I wasn't a fan of this one.
Hey friends!
Today I’m going to be bringing you mini reviews of Fireblood
by Elly Blake which is the second book in the Frostblood trilogy (read more:
Frostblood book review) and Hunting Prince Dracula by Kerri Maniscalco which is
also the second book in the Stalking Jack The Ripper trilogy (read more:
Stalking Jack The Ripper book review).
I was so excited for both the sequels after having loved the
first book in the series and I’m so excited to be sharing my thoughts for them
with you!
Thank you to Date A
Book for sending me these books for review however all thoughts and opinions
are my own and this is an honest review.
Hello hello, my lovely friends!
As you can tell from the title, today I’m going to be
sharing with you four reasons you should read Moxie by Jennifer Mathieu! This
was such a cute book and I highly recommend not only for you to read it, but
also for you to encourage others around you to read it. It has such a powerful
message and one worth sharing. And don't worry, it's spoiler free!
Trigger warning:
sexual harassment and attempted rape
It’s been a while, I know, sorry about that. I have been
doing a lot of reading during the time I’ve been away so lots of new reviews
are coming your way but I’ve been in a bit of a blogging slump hence the lack of
content! But now I am back (and hopefully better than ever!)
So today I’m going to be chatting a little about that
feeling when you’re reluctant to pick up a book, 100% sure it isn’t for you but
then out of some magical, compelling force, you decide to give it a read and
then WHAM it’s great!
That’s how I felt when reading The Last Namsara by Kristen
Ciccarelli. (Which I read and finished today and then promptly posted my review for it!)
There was quite a bit of hype surrounding this when it came
out and I kept seeing it everywhere
on the internet, but I wasn’t really sure it was for me. Some how though,
through some odd force of nature, I picked it up and guess what? I really liked
it!
I do tend to read books outside my genre when I’ve heard
really good reviews for them, as I trust my fellow bloggers, and it’s a really
lovely feeling when you take a chance on a book for it to actually pan out the
way you had hoped.
But enough of my blabbing about why I enjoyed this, and let’s
get started on my thoughts!
Today I’m going to be sharing with you a spoiler free review
for Godsgrave by Jay Kristoff which is the second book in the Nevernight
chronicles. Jay Kristoff is also the co-author of the Illuminae Files (read more: Illuminae book review). Going into this, I wasn’t overly hopeful, NOT because I don’t think
Kristoff is a great writer (he totally is!) but because I’m not much of a dense
fantasy gal.
However, suffice to say, I loved it!
In case you can’t tell by the title, I gave this book a
solid five stars, and it was my second five star read out of the 100+ books and
I didn’t think I’d find another book to give five stars to but then I read this
and yes, it was pretty damn good.
Hey friends!
I had read only one other verse novel before this one and it
was We Come Apart, which I hadn’t ended up loving so I was a little reluctant
to read this. And I’m so glad I did. The verse aspect of it made it such a
unique read (even though I still don’t understand the point of verse, it feels
quite unnecessary to me?) and it dealt with such an important topic with such
grace and care.
Today I’m here to bring you mini reviews of Moonrise by
Sarah Crossan and Because You Love To Hate Me, an anthology by various YA
authors and booktubers! I’m going to keep the intro short because I’ve got lot’s
to say so let’s do it!
MOONRISE by Sarah
Crossan
I had read only one other verse novel before this one and it

I didn’t know much about death penalty before reading this book
and I didn’t have an opinion on whether it should be legal or not – the only
thing I knew was that Australia didn’t have a death penalty.
This story is very well written and hearing breaking, with the
uncanny ability to pull at your heartstrings and have you sobbing for 10
minutes straight after finishing the book (pretty much like I was at the end). The
verse aspect of this means it’s a super short read and easy to fly through,
like I did. The characters aren’t that well developed due to the length,
unfortunately, but they were at the same time likeable and the use of flashback
added a much-needed depth and layered quality to the story. Seeing Joe’s memories
of his siblings, mostly Ed though, made the characters feel so real and three
dimensional. The plot was mainly focused on the characters, but I found the
story to be unpredictable at times and kept me hopeful but at the same time,
hopeless.
I really applaud Sarah Crossan for writing about such a controversial
issue and it really stood out to me from the other YA I had read. I highly
suggest you all pick this book up if you have the chance!
BECAUSE YOU LOVE TO HATE ME edited by Ameriie
Thank you for reading friends!
Have you read either of these books? What did you think? Do you plan to?
Thank you to Bloomsbury Australia for providing me review copies of these books however all thoughts and opinions are my own and this is an honest review.
OVERALL RATING:

BECAUSE YOU LOVE TO HATE ME edited by Ameriie
Because You Love To Hate Me is a YA anthology featuring
works from many different and popular authors such as Victoria Schwab, Adam
Silvera, Nicola Yoon, Renee Ahdieh, Cindy Pon and many more as well as short
little commentaries from booktubers!
I was quite excited for this, having heard about it for the first
time, because a lot of my favourite authors were going to have their work
included in there and it showed me that there are other people outside of the
book community that consider bloggers and booktubers as legitimate ‘jobs’ and
that they are taken seriously enough to be asked to contribute in an anthology,
which just makes me SO happy!
The idea of this was so great because the book was about
short stories about villains and I am such a fan of villains because they are
so interesting and complex when well written so I was excited to see what my
favourite authors and booktubers could spin out of them.
However, I was left a little disappointed, probably because I’m
not a short story person as I struggled to get into the stories and connect
with the characters and feel engaged with the plot. They were quite dry here
and there, although the booktuber commentaries were quite entertaining. Overall
though, it meant I just skim read the stories and didn’t feel all that engaged.
There were a few I liked though. I liked Christine’s commentary
on Renee’s story and Zoe’s little multiple-choice quiz too. I enjoyed Susan
Dennard’s story (Sherlock Homes for the win! I adore than Dennard had a little
Sherlock retelling because I am such a fan!) and Marissa Meyer’s spin on The
Little Mermaid (she will forever be the queen of retellings) but I wasn’t AS
huge of a fan as I had hoped.
I can understand though, that this is probably a more
personal choice because short stories are not for everyone but I do still
encourage you to borrow a copy from your library or buy one to support these YA
authors and more importantly, the booktubers!

Hey friends!
Today I'm going to be sharing with you a no spoiler book review for Language Of Thorns by Leigh Bardugo which is a companion to her Grishaverse books such as the Shadow And Bone trilogy and the Six Of Crows duology (read more: Six Of Crows and Crooked Kingdom mini reviews) which i'm sure you already know about seeing how famous they are!
I didn't know much about this book before going into it other than it was utterly gorgeous and it was a bunch of short stories set in the Grishaverse. But I really enjoyed it when I read it and i'm so glad I gave it a shot.
Hey friends!
Today I’m going to be sharing with you a spoiler free review
for the gorgeous They Both Die At The End by Adam Silvera. I have been meaning
to write this book review for SUCH a long time because I read this book well
over two and a half months ago as an e-ARC but I was super lazy before it was
published to write a review and after the publication date, I got very busy!
But better late than never right?
Anyways, Adam Silvera is a New York Times bestselling author
of three books total, the others being More Happy Than Not and History Is All
You Left Me, both of which are great books!
Hey friends!
Welcome back to my blog (or if you’re new, hello, welcome, I
ramble a lot about books!) and I hope you’re all having a lovely day. Today I’m
going to be sharing with you mini reviews for Our Chemical Hearts and A Semi
Definite List Of Worst Nightmares, both by Krystal Sutherland.
If you didn’t know anything about Krystal Sutherland, she is
an Australian author whose first novel, Our Chemical Hearts was published last
year. I had been meaning to read her work for a really long time but for some
reason, I kept putting it off until recently, I read both of her books!
OUR CHEMICAL HEARTS
I was super excited for Our Chemical Hearts. All my
Australian bookish friends had been raving about this book and I was super
pumped to read it after having heard such good things. But sadly, I was
disappointed.
I liked how unique it was as most YA tends to focus on the romantics
of first-love, rather than the realistic nuances of the emotion and I feel like
Krystal was able to capture the heart of the emotion (aha no pun intended)
really well. Henry and Grace had distinct personalities and they didn’t fall
into the clichéd boy-meets-girl tropes common in YA. The side characters were
also quite fleshed out and didn’t fade into the background, thankfully. The humour
was well done and I feel as a writer, Sutherland has a lot of potential because
her exploration of love and loss and first times was so well done. The ending
was really great and managed to wrap up the book extremely well and get across the
message.
But the problem comes in the middle portions. The book felt
like it was trying too hard at times (and it reminded me a lot (and not in a good
way!) of John Green) with the characterisation of Grace and Henry. It was so
hard to connect with and root for them and often, their choices throughout the
novel made me dislike them even more. They were so bland and often, cringe too.
I didn’t like Grace, and I could understand she had been through a lot, but the
hot-and-cold happening between the two of them frustrated me to no ends. Plot wise,
the book dragged and didn’t have much happening, which was quite unfortunate.
Overall, it wasn’t the worst, but not the best either. A sadly
‘meh’ read for me.
OVERALL RATING:
★★★
A SEMI DEFINITE LIST
OF WORST NIGHTMARES
I was more reluctant to read this after having read Our
Chemical Hearts first because after reading the synopsis, it sounded much like
the first one where the book ‘tried too hard’. But glad to say that this was an
improvement and that Krystal Sutherland was able to improve as a writer since
her first book.
This was well written and tackled the issue of mental health
in an unexpected but absolutely terrific way that totally surprised and
simultaneously pleased me. The dialogue was the perfect balance between touching
and understated to deadpan humour (which, let’s be real, is the best kind of
humour!). I liked the characters A LOT more in this one because despite their
wackiness, they really spring of the page and seem life like. Esther was so loving
and funny and a great main character and Jonah was such a sweet heart. Bonus points
to Sutherland for having POC representation in this book! Once again, the side
characters didn’t feel like side characters in this because they had such
distinct personalities and an important role to play in the book.
But now to the downs. I found this got quite confusing at
some points. The flashbacks irritated me because I wasn’t really interested in
them, but they were vital to the story so I couldn’t skip them. Usually, I’m
not that picky but I don’t think the supernatural elements worked very well for
this book. I liked it up to a point, but when it began to become more detailed
and a bigger part of the story, I was a little discouraged. The ending was also
unclear and quite rushed as suddenly after the climax, the falling action
happened in the matter of pages. It also took me a while to figure out that it
wasn’t actually me who had missed something but the ending had been left that way
and up to the readers own interpretation, which, once again, I usually don’t mind,
but I felt like I needed closure in this one.
However, this was a solid read and a definite (ha, see what I
did there? I am just full of jokes today!) improvement from the first one.
Hey friends!
It is that time of the month again where I share with you the books I hauled in August and the books I read in August.
August was a super busy month for me and there was so much going on towards the end however, I managed to do pretty good with my reading! I read a grand total of 14 books which I am quite happy with, a few of them being graphic novels and audiobooks!
If you'd like to see the books I read, check out my video where I go through each of the books + what I thought of them + my star ratings! (Or watch on YouTube)
I really focused on requesting less books from publishers in August because of how stressful and overloaded I can become with having too many review books and it worked and I got very little publisher mail which honestly makes me so happy because I could focus on reading the books I wanted to read and therefore I had a more satisfactory reading month!
If you'd like to see the books I hauled, then check out my video below! (Or watch on YouTube)
Thank you for reading friends! It'd mean a lot to me if you could also take the time to subscribe to my YouTube channel if you haven't already, because it shows me you are enjoying my content and maybe even leave me a thumbs up and comment?
What books did you read or haul in August? Did I read or haul any of your favourites?
Hey friends! Today I’m going to be sharing with you my
review for Warcross by Marie Lu!
A bit of background firstly. Marie Lu is one of my favourite
authors EVER! I loved her Legend trilogy and I adore her Young Elites trilogy (read more: The Young Elites no
spoiler book review) so I was so so SO flipping
excited when I heard about Warcross.
A few people have asked me: do I need to be a gamer or into
gaming to truly enjoy Warcross? My answer: NOPE! I am the least gaming of gamers you could meet (for real, the only game I
ever play is Candy Crush or 1010! on my phone so trust me, you’re good!) and I
really enjoyed it.
