10 Books That Look Really Awesome!
This post is also quite similar to be Intimidating TBR tag which you can check out if you want to see some other books on my TBR list, along with these ones. I have also done an August TBR which you can see for more book suggestions.
Let's get started!
SINCE YOU’VE BEEN
GONE BY MORGAN MATSON
Since You’ve Been Gone
is about a girl named Emily whose best friend Sloane has disappeared, leaving
nothing but a list of to-do tasks that Emily would never do. But what if
completing the tasks brought Sloane back?
Since You’ve Been Gone sounds extremely intriguing but at
the same time, fun and light but heart-warming. I have heard such lovely things
about this book and it was shortlisted for the Inky Awards. I also want to it
because I have ordered The Unexpected Everything also by Morgan Matson and
while it arrives, I wanted to read one of her other books to know what was in
store for me when it arrived.
It also helps that the cover is absolutely gorgeous and very
summery and pretty. (Even though it is anything but summer in the southern
hemisphere but maybe it means I can live my summer dreams through this book as I
eagerly await the change of seasons.)
This book was also part of my August TBR!
THE UNBECOMING OF
MARA DYER BY MICHELLE HODKIN
As I write this, this is a book I have actually read but I thought
I’d include it anyway since it sounded very intriguing to me when I read the
synopsis. Mara Dyer wakes up in a
hospital, completely unharmed from an accident that killed three people. The doctors
suggest she starts afresh in a new city, at a new school however, she can’t
seem to escape her past as she begins to see her dead friends everywhere along
with the deaths of people before they happen. And to top it all off, Noah Shaw,
a mysterious and beautiful boy can’t seem to leave her alone.
Cool right?
I’d heard quite nice things about this one from people and
it seemed very intriguing and cool so I decided to try it out and there will be
an in detail book review coming very soon!
This book was also included in my August TBR.
THE OTHER SIDE OF
SUMMER BY EMILY GALE
Summer is trying to
recover from a tragedy but it seems impossible when her family is falling apart
around her. Having an extraordinary best friend like Mal helps but it’s Summer’s
secret source of happiness that is a link to her past – her guitar. Now her Dad’s
plan to save them all is turning her upside down and they next thing they know,
they’ve moved to the other side of the world. However, in Australia, Summer
makes a mysterious friend that seems to be magically connected to her guitar. Has
the mysterious boy been sent to help Summer?
What drew me to the book is cover and the fact that it seems
to be set in Australia which is awesome because I think more books need to be
set here. It seems quite quirky but heart-warming and sweet at the same time. I
am really excited to try it out, especially since I am going in blind, having
no idea what it’s about.
BEAUTIFUL BROKEN
THINGS BY SARA BARNARD
This is about two
friends, Caddy and Rosie that were inseparable until they were pulled apart
because of Suzanne. Now Cady wants to be more than the quiet one and Suzanne is
trying to escape her past. But sometimes, downward spirals have a momentum of
their own. After all, no one can break your heart like a best friend.
I heard about this book from Zoella’s book club video and it
seemed really cool and I liked the other books she talked about so I figured
this one was just as good. I hadn’t read many books on friendships so I wanted
to try it out. I also quite love the cover, especially the beautiful gold on
it.
UNRIVALED BY ALYSON
NOEL
Everyone wants to be someone.
Layla Harrison wants to leave her beach-bum days for digs behind a reporter’s desk. Aster Amirpour wants to scream at the next casting director who tells her “we need ethnic but not your kind of ethnic.” Tommy Phillips dreams of buying a twelve-string guitar and using it to shred his way back into his famous absentee dad’s life.
But Madison Brooks took destiny and made it her bitch a long time ago.
She’s Hollywood’s hottest starlet, and the things she did to become the name on everyone’s lips are merely a stain on the pavement, ground beneath her Louboutin heel.
That is, until Layla, Aster, and Tommy find themselves with a VIP invite to the glamorous and gritty world of Los Angeles’s nightlife and lured into a high-stakes competition where Madison Brooks is the target. Just as their hopes begin to gleam like stars through the California smog, Madison Brooks goes missing. . . . And all of their hopes are blacked out in the haze of their lies.
This seems like a dark and edgy contemporary which is what
drew me to it. The cover is unbelievably gorgeous and the fact that so many
testimonials cover the entire back of the book makes me feel like this is going
to be a pretty interesting one!
THE MOONLIGHT
DREAMERS BY SIOBHAN CURHAM
Amber craves excitement and adventure. Instead,
she’s being bullied at school for having two dads, and life at home isn’t much
better. Inspired by Oscar Wilde, Amber realizes that among the millions of
people in London, there must be others who feel the same as she does; other
dreamers – moonlight dreamers. After chance encounters with Maali, Sky and
Rose, Amber soon recruits the three girls to the Moonlight Dreamers. It’s high
time they started pursuing their dreams, and how better than with the support
of friends?
The cover
for this is so gorgeous and it seems like an easy and fun read about friendship
and growing up. However, I don’t know much about it and I haven’t seen many
people on the Internet with the book so we’ll have to see how that goes!
THE POTION
DIARIES BY AMY ALWARD
When the Princess of Nova accidentally poisons
herself with a love potion meant for her crush, she falls crown-over-heels in
love with her own reflection. Oops. A nationwide hunt is called to find the
cure, with competitors travelling the world for the rarest ingredients, deep in
magical forests and frozen tundras, facing death at every turn.
Enter Samantha Kemi - an ordinary girl with an extraordinary talent. Sam's family were once the most respected alchemists in the kingdom, but they've fallen on hard times, and winning the hunt would save their reputation. But can Sam really compete with the dazzling powers of the ZoroAster megapharma company? Just how close is Sam willing to get to Zain Aster, her dashing former classmate and enemy, in the meantime?
And just to add to the pressure, this quest is ALL OVER social media. And the world news.
This book seems like
such a fun and light read. I heard of it on Zoella’s book club video and when I
read the synopsis, I thought it was something that I’d enjoy quite a bit. Also,
the cover rocks because it’s so fun and bright and pretty. I am pretty excited
to read this one!
That is is! This has
been a very long post but I’ve covered quite a few books. If you’ve stuck with
me till the end, then you are absolutely amazing. Leave me some book
recommendations in the comments of books you’ve seen and loved or if you’ve
read/want to read any of these books and what you thought of them! I love to
see other people’s ideas and opinions!
Until next time!
