Heir Of Fire by Sarah J Maas is the third book in the Throne Of Glass series. I do not recommend reading this review if you have not read Throne Of Glass (the first book) or Crown Of Midnight (second book).
If you have not read the other books in the series, I have done no spoiler book reviews and which you can read!

SUMMARY
Heir Of Fire by Sarah J Maas is the story about Celaena Sardothien, an assassin who is also the Queen of Terrasen leaves Adarlan to go on a mission for the King to Wendlyn. However, she is tired of spilling blood for the king and consumed with guilt and rage over the death of her friend Nehemia. Her plan is to go Queen Maeve and ask for her help in finding the wyrdkeys and stopping the King of Adarlan.
However, when she
gets there, she must prove her worth to the Queen and learn to harness her
power her fae heritage had gifted her. Rowan, an arrogant and harsh purebred
Fae prince must help her and only then will the Queen tell her the answers to
the questions she seeks.
But the only question is, can she harness her power or will
the rage and guilt eat at her till there is nothing left?
IDEA + PLOT
I loved the idea of the book. After everything that happened
in Crown Of Midnight, I thought it was essential that Celaena got away for a
while. She needed time to heal and be the person she was born to be. The
distance created by the author allowed for other subplots to develop, to meet
new characters and for the story to become more layered, complex and
intertwining. The effect was thrilling.
The story was very well done. The plot was filled with
mystery, action, slight suspense and it made me want to turn the page faster,
which is what all good books should be able to do. I loved how Maas has
developed the books.
In the beginning of the series, we see only Celaena and her
struggles, what her past had caused her to become and only ever hear from her
despite the books being written in third person. But through the duration of
these three books, the story seems to zoom out so the readers can see the
bigger picture.
There are so many things going on in this book, so much more
than Throne Of Glass and Crown Of Midnight. We not only meet new characters
such as Rowan and Queen Maeve but Manon Blackbeak, Sorscha and Aedion. The alternating
POV’s could have been very annoying but they were skilfully done, increasing
the anticipation.
CHARACTERS
Celaena’s character development in this book was so on
point! When you compare her character to the start of the novel to the end of
it, the difference is remarkable. It is absolutely incredible to see her slowly
harness her abilities and accept her Fae heritage. She becomes less of an
unruly assassin and more of a queen fit to rule a country. I also liked her
personality in the book and found myself able to understand and empathize with
her. There were times when I just wanted to reach through the book and give her
a pat on the back.
A main and new character that gets introduced in the book is
Rowan. Rowan is rude, arrogant, deadly and extremely unlikeable. But as the story
continues, you see parts of him that he likes to keep hidden – the slight
kindness and vulnerability, the loyalty and love he has for the ones closest to
him and you can’t help but fall in love.
Aedion is another new character. There isn’t too much about
him, but from what I have read, I can see he is loyal and deadly. He also cares
very deeply about Celaena and wishes for nothing more than to see her again. I found
that very sweet.
Chaol and Dorian, I can’t say much about without giving the
plot away! However, I do still love both of them and I cannot wait to see more
of them in Queen Of Shadows.
FINALLY…
Absolutely loved this book! Crown Of Midnight is still my
favourite but Heir Of Fire is right behind it. The plot was layered, complex,
twisting and the characters were lovable and beautifully created. It was an
absolute pleasure to read.
